CYCLAMEN
Flowering
Period: Fall through winter. Plant goes dormant in
late spring through summer.
Light: 3 to 4 hours of direct sunlight.
Water: When soil is dry across the surface avoid
pouring water directly in center of plant so as not to
rot the corm from which it grows.
Temperature: Cyclamen do best in a cool location
in the home. They prefer night temps down to 500 F and
600 - 65° F during the day. Too warm temperatures can
cause leaves to turn yellow.
Fertilize: During active growing period every 2
weeks with an all purpose Houseplant fertilizer.
Special Notes:
In
Spring after flowering period is over foliage will
begin to die back. Allow plant to go completely
dormant. Place in a cool location and gradually reduce
watering. Let plant rest 2 to 3 months watering very
infrequently. In mid to late summer repot corm in
fresh soil and place in a warm area to encourage root
growth. Eventually plant should be placed back in a
sunny cool location.
